Avio is a leading company in space propulsion, based in Colleferro, near Rome, Italy. The company offers competitive solutions for launching institutional, governmental and commercial payloads in Earth orbit through its Vega rocket family. The expertise and know-how acquired in over 50 years, currently allow Avio to compete with the top players in the segment of solid, liquid and cryogenic propulsion for space launchers and military tactical missiles.

Avio USA is a subsidiary of Avio S.p.A. with its headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. Avio USA is structured to operate in compliance with US security and export-control regulations and is governed by a US-led board of directors. The CEO of Avio USA is retired US Navy Vice Admiral James Syring, former Director of the US Missile Defense Agency.

SE.CO.SV.IM

SE.CO.SV.IM. is the company within the Avio Group that manages approximately 950 hectares of real estate assets in the Lazio region, across the municipalities of Colleferro, Segni, and Artena. Part of this area is dedicated to industrial production (especially in the aerospace sector), while the rest is directly managed to ensure environmental and territorial sustainability. The company inherits the legacy of Engineer Leopoldo Parodi Delfino, who founded the BPD Factory in 1912 and significantly contributed to the industrial and infrastructural development of Colleferro. Today, this tradition is carried on by Avio, a European leader in space propulsion. SE.CO.SV.IM.’s mission is to support the Avio Group in its technological and strategic growth by promoting environmental sustainability, social initiatives, and the enhancement of the territory and industrial heritage. The company’s new logo features the historic chimney of the Old Thermoelectric Plant, a symbol of the industrial past and of continuity with the mission of territorial development.

REGULUS

Regulus (Avio 60%, Ariane Group 40%) is a French company with registered offices in Kourou, French Guiana created in 1989 by the Italian BPD from Colleferro and from SNPE («Société National des Poudres et Explosifs»), which was property of the French State. The company aims to be a global leader in the production and loading of solid propellant into large rocket engines.

EUROPROPULSION

Europropulsion S.A. (50% Avio, 50% Ariane Group) is a company founded in 1986 by Avio and French Safran to ensure cooperation between France and Italy on the European launchers Ariane and Vega. The company has the goal to control the development of big solid rocket motors for space launchers, in the frame of programs carried on under the ESA umbrella and based on financial contributions by the Italian and French governments.

Spacelab

SPACELAB

Spacelab was created in 2000 by Avio (70%) and the Italian Space Agency - ASI - (30%) under the name of ELV S.p.A. On May 9, 2018, it was renamed Spacelab S.p.A. Spacelab develops innovative technologies in the space access sector in order to create a competitive advantage for our country, taking part in projects financed by ASI and the European Union. Main activities : Research and development of new technologies and test infrastructures in the space transport sector; Creation and management of facilities for research, development and testing; Participation in publicly and privately funded research, development and test programmes, contractual agreements and consultancy services.
